San Joaquin Valley The San Joaquin Valley is located in the heart of California. The valley is surrounded by several large mountain ranges and is
believed to have formed about 65 million
years ago. Fluctuations in sea levels caused areas of the valley to be
flooded with sea water for millions of years.
Within the last 5 million years, the sea outlets began to close due to the uplift of coastal ranges to the west and deposits
of sediment from the surrounding mountain ranges. These
sediment deposits have created a rich agricultural land. ~ The San Joaguin Valley is the birthplace and home of the artist
Rudy Vargas. The work displayed on this page is
conceptual. It is a representation of the rich agricultual land, the hard working people and "salt of the earth mentality"
that comes from within California's San Joaquin Valley. |
